"To me a lush carpet of pine needles or spongy grass is more welcome then the most luxurious Persian carpet". HELEN KELLER
Each day has its own theme that starts with the question of the day and a story book. The theme is carried out all day long in nature, art and games. For Example, on bird day we might read Owl Moon, have an egg toss during games, make our very favorite bird nest snack (made of chocolate, shredded wheat and jelly beans for eggs), and make a bird house at art.
On the day that we are exploring Stoney Brook we will make an aquarium that will simulate a crayfish habitat, play leap frog or sardines and have gold fish for snack!
When we are collecting insects from the wildflowers in the meadow we might play Dodge the Bumble Bee or Capture the Flag and make a larger than life spider web and ladybug out of paper mache in art.
